Edinburgh woman rushed to hospital after emergency services race to woodland area

A woman has been rushed to hospital after a heavy emergency service presence was spotted near a woodland area on the outskirts of Edinburgh city centre on Friday.

Police and ambulance crews were spotted at Corstorphine Hill around 4pm on Friday, August 5, with an area of woodland cordoned off. One concerned dog-walker reported seeing officers in "grey suits" while in the area and wondered what was going on.

On Friday, Police Scotland confirmed they received a concern for a person call, but since confirmed a woman was taken to hospital and that enquiries are now concluded.

They said: “Around 3.50pm on Friday 5 August, 2022, police were called to a concern for person on Corstorphine Hill, Edinburgh. A woman has been taken to hospital and enquiries are concluded.”

Pictures from the scene show the popular dog-walking spot cordoned off with blue tape and officers standing either side of the entrance to the woodland area. Around five police vehicles and three ambulances were spotted along Clermiston Road North at the top of the junction for Drum Brae Drive.

A concerned resident said: “I got up to the woods with my dog and I saw all the police and was terrified that something terrible had happened. There were a number of officers and what appeared to be detectives in grey suits exiting vehicles just along from the Leonardo Hotel."
