A COUPLE who have brought a celebration of whisky heritage to Clackmannanshire are set to launch another event in Scotland’s capital later this year.
Husband and wife duo Graham and Serena Lindsay launched a festival in Alloa last year which, as well as involving a range of exhibitors, tells the story of the area’s whisky roots while raising awareness of mental health support.
Following two successful years of that event, the pair will launch a festival in Edinburgh for the first time in October at BT Murrayfield.
The Lindsays say they are looking forward to welcoming more than 600 people to the event on Saturday, October 14, when there will be two 3.5 hour sessions.
More than 45 exhibitors will be there including distilleries, independent bottlers and companies specialising in other whisky-related products. Fife independent bottlers, Fib Whisky, will be producing a special bottling for the event.
Meanwhile, there will be a focus on the history of whisky production in Scotland through an exhibition as well as live demonstrations in partnership with Diageo and Cambus Cooperage.
The festival will also be partnering with the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation to raise awareness of motor neurone disease as part of its focus on wellbeing.
Director Serena Lindsay said: "We are extremely excited to welcome ticket holders to BT Murrayfield to the third SlanjEvents Whisky Festival on Saturday, October 14.
“Our unique approach to the festival delivery in terms of whisky, heritage and wellness really struck a chord with people this year and last in Clackmannanshire and our first event in Edinburgh promises to be even better.”
Those attending the festival will get a complimentary Glencairn glass and glass holder lanyard, before they will be able to sample hundreds of whiskies across Scotland and hear about the stories behind them.
All whiskies being exhibited will also be available to buy through retailers Woodwinters Wines and Whiskies via the Bevvy App, including the special festival bottling.
