The Met Office has announced its festive forecast and issued an update as to whether we can expect a white Christmas.
Following a cold snap, temperatures are set to become more mild through the week but with that comes wind and rain, according to the weather experts.
Temperatures were struggling to reach above zero last week, but in the days leading up to Christmas, they are predicted to sit between 4C and 8C, so there is a 'fight' between warn and cold air.

For Christmas, while it can be too early to tell for certain what the weather will be doing, the experts expect the wet and mild forecast to continue leading up to the big day. At the moment, December 25 is forecasted to have sunny intervals with temperatures sitting between -1C and 4C. And no snow is forecasted.
Looking towards tomorrow, the Met Office adds that there will be "bright with sunny spells, the best of these through East Lothian and the eastern Borders. A scattering of showers, these mainly in the west. Fresh to strong southwest winds. Maximum temperature"
On Tuesday evening and through to Wednesday, blustery winds will hit Edinburgh with gusts of up to 34 miles per hour on Wednesday by 3pm.
Met Office deputy chief meteorologist, Dan Harris, said: “From mid-week we expect to see a north/south split develop with colder weather arriving in the north, while the south hangs onto the mild conditions.
"There are, however, large uncertainties concerning where the boundary between these two air masses will eventually end up, especially as we head into the Christmas weekend.
“Uncertainty in the weather forecast details is not unusual at 6-7 days out, and the current weather patterns are heightening those uncertainties. Confidence in the forecast is unlikely to increase until mid-week at the earliest and a range of outcomes are still possible.
“However, what we can say is that Christmas Day will most likely be mild with a risk of rain or showers in places for the south, especially the far south, while any cold air and wintry conditions will most likely be confined to the north of the UK.”
