Edinburgh is set to sizzle next week with temperatures rising to 25C next week.
As Edinburgh celebrates the second week of the Festival Fringe, many visitors will be hoping for a dry day as hundreds of street acts are taking over the city. Luckily, the Met Office forecasts a 'hot spell' as festival-goers don't have to battle with rain.
From Monday, Edinburgh will reach 20C with cloud and sunny intervals in the morning and while it is forecasted to be cloudy on Tuesday, temperatures will jump to 22C. Meanwhile, it's expected to get even hotter by Wednesday as the 'hot spell' hits the city..

Met Office chief forecaster Steve Willington said: “We could see parts of the UK entering heatwave conditions if the above-average temperatures last for three days or more. Many areas of the UK, especially the south will witness temperatures several degrees higher than average, but these values are likely to be well below the record-breaking temperatures we saw in mid-July.
“As the high pressure builds there is very little meaningful rain in the forecast, especially in those areas in the south of England, which experienced very dry conditions last month. Elsewhere in the UK, such as in northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, rain-bearing weather fronts will make limited headway against the high pressure, bringing some rain to north-western parts of the UK.”
Here's what to expect of the hot spell in Edinburgh next week.
Wednesday August 10
On Wednesday, temperatures are forecasted to jump from 22C to 24C. While UV rays are high and suncream is recommended, pollen is low as we reach the end of pollen season.
Sunshine is forecasted for the whole day from 7am until 9pm when the sun will set.
Thursday
Thursday is set to be a scorcher with Edinburgh basking in 25C degree heat. Temperatures will start at 15C at 7am and rise through the day before reaching the maximum at 4pm.
Friday
While it's too early to predict the exact weather for Friday, the Met Office forecast another sunny day with temperatures reaching 23C by 4pm with 14C at the coolest. Saturday is expected to drop back down to 20C.
Rebekah Sherwin, deputy chief meteorologist with the Met Office said: “The weather pattern bringing next week’s hot spell is different to the one responsible for last month’s record-breaking temperatures which saw already hot air being drawn up from southern Europe adding to our own home-grown heat.
“This time, that is much less likely; instead, temperatures will build steadily within the lingering area of high pressure.
“There is some uncertainty about next week’s temperatures, although in early August sunshine in the UK doesn’t have the heating potential of mid-July as the sun is lower in the sky and the hours of daylight are marginally shorter. Both of these factors suggest that we’re very unlikely to see temperatures peak much above low to mid 30s. However, this would still be a hot spell of weather.”
