Edinburgh weather: City set for mini heatwave this week after wet bank holiday

Edinburgh is set for a mini heatwave this coming week after a dreich end to bank holiday weekend.

Despite the miserable weather across Saturday and Sunday, the capital can look forward to some rare warmer weather towards the end of the week.

Hopefully not too many bank holiday weekend plans have been scuppered by the grey clouds and rain, here is the forecast for the upcoming week.

For the rest of Sunday it should be staying mostly dry and occasionally clear, but turning rather cloudy overnight, with more drizzly showers.

Monday is a cooler start to the week, but still hitting double figures with the temperature expected to be around 10c throughout the day.

There will be showers throughout the morning and in the early evening with a brisk wind blowing all day.

Tuesday will be much the same, staying cloudy with showers turning quite frequent into afternoon.

Wednesday temperatures will hit 15c and this mini heatwave will continue into weekend.

The rest of the week brings brighter spells and only a few light isolated showers, with Thursday afternoon set to be warm and dry.
