Commuters at Edinburgh Waverley were caught in chaos on Friday morning after trains were cancelled following Thursday's lorry crash onto tracks in East Lothian. Massive queues of people stretched out the station and onto Waverley Bridge.
Late on Thursday evening, an HGV crashed onto the rail tracks of the East Coast Mainline, causing the busy route to be closed this morning as a salvage operation was launched.
The lorry driver was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for the treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

Dramatic pictures from Edinburgh Waverley show queues spreading all the way out of the station as passengers are now being advised to leave and return at 2pm.
The images show one continuous queue of people stretching all the way through the station. We spoke to someone at the scene who now says the queue had spread all the way onto Waverley Bridge.
Commuter Christopher Armstrong said: “It seems that there is one big long queue for all the cancelled trains, people are being pointed towards the back to the queue which is now snaking from the concourse next to Platform 1 & 2, through the station and up the exit ramp to Waverley Bridge.
“People seem to be hot and bothered, it’s warm in the station and outside, but given the length of the queue, the majority are surprisingly patient.
“There are definitely people who aren’t happy with having to wait in such a long queue for their travels. The staff are on the concourse being really helpful with directions.
“People are now being advised by staff to leave the station and return at 2pm as opposed to queuing.”
After the crash on Thursday evening, Network Rail tweeted: "Good progress on repairs overnight, but unfortunately the East Coast Mainline between Edinburgh and Berwick-upon-Tweed hasn't reopened though it's imminent. Repairs ongoing to the signalling system, following the HGV destroying a lineside cabinet."
