Edinburgh Virgin Hotel apologise after guest's discovery in room

A luxury Edinburgh hotel has issued an apology after guests found empty whisky bottles after entering their room.

Virgin Hotels, located on Victoria Street, has received a one star rating on TripAdvisor from the disgruntled reviewer who hit out following their stay

The guest blasted the hotel as 'not family friendly' and left a detailed response about why they would not be staying at the hotel in future.

The reviewer started by saying: "This is the first review I have ever left, but it needs done."

They continued: "We checked into our room and found six open bottles of whiskey on the mini bar."

They also complained about the restaurant, ranting: "We waited with two exhausted toddlers for 45 minutes just for the waiter to come to the table to tell us they were out of noodles which my hungry six year old had ordered.

"I called the manager to discuss our situation and she hung up on us and didn’t call back.

The reviewer finished by saying: "If you have a family, I do NOT recommend this hotel."

General Manager at the hotel responded to the reviewer and said: "Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to learn of your disappointment during your visit. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me."

Overall, the Virgin Hotel has a four and a half out of five rating on the Tripadvisor website.

One person said: "The area of the hotel and accommodations are fabulous. We had a wonderful stay and would surely stay here again. Friendly staff and beautiful room with a balcony."

With another person saying: "Overall experience is great. Staff are friendly and helpful. The room is clean and comfortable with good sitting area."
