Rail passengers have been advised against travel between Edinburgh and England amid high winds caused by Storm Malik.
Hundreds of travellers have been left stranded in both directions from the Capital to Newcastle after LNER announced a sweeping cancellation of services across its network during blustery conditions.
Over 60 ScotRail routes had already been stopped over safety concerns following an amber Met Office warning predicting gusts of up to 60mph.

The rail operator urged customers to avoid travel over the weekend and retain tickets where possible, which can be used for services on Monday.
An LNER statement read: "We are experiencing significant disruption to our train services due to severe weather. Because of this, we’re advising customers not to travel between Newcastle and Scotland today.
"Your tickets dated for travel today, Saturday 29 January, will be valid for travel on Monday 31 January.
"If you choose to travel on Monday 31 January, please travel as close to the time on your ticket as possible.
"Please note that we highly recommend that you make a reservation before travelling.
"We’re doing everything we can to get services up and running again and we’re sorry for any disruption to your journey today."
Refunds are available for those unable to travel from the LNER website.
CrossCountry also confirmed services would be cancelled due to issues affecting overhead wires caused by the storm.
The company tweeted: "Unfortunately, we have been informed that there will be *no* service between Newcastle and Edinburgh for the remainder of today. P
"lease consider postponing your journey if possible. Tickets for travel today will be accepted tomorrow."

A 'danger to life' alert from forecasters is due to remain in place until at least 3pm on Saturday, according to Met Office chiefs.
However, experts have also warned of the need to prepare for Storm Corrie which is set to 'bring further unsettled weather'.
Severe winds between 50mph and 75mph are expected to blow through the Capital from 3pm on Sunday.
