Edinburgh student says Scottish people 'don't exist' in viral video poking fun at capital

An Edinburgh university student has claimed that Scottish people are 'non existent' around the University Edinburgh

Taking to online social media platform the TikTok user made a tongue in cheek video about people you see while walking around Bristo Square, a central spot on the Edinburgh University campus.

The video follows a common trend on the site that titles the video, POV you are walking through Bristo Square, followed by a number of people you are likely to see around the student hub.

The video is captioned: "Point of view: you are walking through Bristo Square" followed by pictures representing the people you often see there.

The first example is of an Edinburgh University stereotype - known as 'yahs' these are usually posh English students who dress like they just starred in a terrible 00's music video and often say "Rah where's my baccy?"

The second is a picture of some Americans with the caption "OMG Europe is so beautiful" based on the stereotype that many Americans consider the whole of Europe to be one country.

Next is a picture of a skater with "runs over you" written. Bristo Square has been a hot spot for skating since the 1980's.

At the end of the video comes the representation of Scottish people you would see at Bristo Square paired with a google image picture that says 'non existent.'

One user said, "I have been run over by a skateboarder."

While one said: "Most accurate thing."

Another added: "Okay wow you nailed this."

Previously Scottish comedian Limmy had joked that the capital was actually a part of England.

Although he did later apologise for his antics which understandably wound up Edinburgh locals.
