Edinburgh student lives off Deliveroo takeaway meals for six months

An Edinburgh student has been living the high-life after they picked up a part-time job that gave them a huge weekly supply of Deliveroo.

With many studying hard in the capital often choosing to revolve their diet around takeaways, Sona Visavadia, 20, had the company cover it for her after becoming a student ambassador.

Signing up for the role in September 2021, second-year-student Sona has now received six months worth of scran that covered her for the entire term.

In addition, her ambassador work has allowed her to attend foodie events across the country while ensuring that her fridge was fully stocked.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Sona said: "Through the role I was able to work on a few campaigns, one with Deliveroo, a friend of mine said they were looking for ambassadors so I went to an event the next day and signed up.

"It ran from September to January and each week they would give us either £50, or £15 vouchers with a theme for the week, and told us what they would want that week to be about.

"So one week it was to have a 'flatmate bonding night' where they paid for all of the takeaway and other times it was vouchers for groceries which was great as you don't always want takeaway all the time."

With the pressure off of having to fork out for meals, Sona said the experience was "life changing", and explained that the accompanying marketing work was "really manageable" alongside her studies.

Now still working with the Raptor agency, the 20-year-old is desperate for other students to take up the opportunity to have their lives made a lot easier.

She added: "I think my favourite small business I ordered from was Ting Thai caravan, we had a flatmate night in and just spent time together while having a free dinner.

"I want other students to realise how incredible the campaign is and how easy it was, to do fun events and get free food all the time just for things like doing an Instagram post."
