A weather map created by the Met Office has shown the speed and direction that the gale-force winds will hit Edinburgh during the day today.
Forecasters put out a yellow weather warning for Edinburgh and the rest of Scotland on February 16, beginning at 3am this morning and ending at 3pm in the afternoon.
Winds have reached up to 80mph across Scotland overnight, as the Forth Road Bridge closed off to all traffic, due to safety fears. Disruptions have occurred across the capital, with drivers warned before heading out onto the winds.
Winds as strong as 47 miles per hour are to hit Edinburgh from 7am after locals woke up to gales this morning.

The weather warning has warned that a that there could be “injuries and danger to life from flying debris” and “some damage to building, such as tiles blown from roofs”.
And now, the Met Office have produced a weather map, showing people the speed and direction of the winds across Scotland.
The national weather service tweeted: "With #StormOtto crossing to the north of the UK, we have already seen gusts of 75-80 mph this morning across parts of northern Scotland.
"This continues to be a risk over the coming hours with weather warnings in force. Stay #WeatherAware."
The map showed that winds reached speeds between 60mph and 69mph this morning, with the blustery weather predicted to dissipate by noon today.
And according to the Met Office website, the wind gust will continue to stay above 30mph until 3pm today, when the weather warning is set to end.
Speeds of 40mph will remain in Edinburgh until 12pm, with normal wind speeds of 9mph not happening until at least 9pm tonight.
