Edinburgh stonemason shares hair-raising clip of wobbly stone in city centre

An Edinburgh stonemason has shared a terrifying clip of a loose stone as they worked on a job in the city centre this week.

Steeped in history, the city is known for its swathes of old stone buildings, many of which come with sculptures and additions that have been around for hundreds of years.

However, keeping these buildings safe today is a full time job, with many cracking or coming loose over time due to weather and old age.

Posting on TikTok on Saturday, Edinburgh Stonemasons were quick to highlight the importance of the work they do, and showed a huge wobbling stone on top of a busy city centre street.

Shaking the huge and heavy sculpture back and forth, the company captioned the clip 'is Edinburgh safe?' as they got to work to ensure it was secured.

The solid stone thistle was seen to have had previous repairs work carried out on it, which could be seen through the cracks that had been sealed up in the past.

Located on top of a five-storey building on Jeffrey Street, the pavement below is often packed with locals heading through the city centre, with the street connecting Waverely Station and the Royal Mile.
