Several Edinburgh snipers were spotted on the roof of the Dome at the Hogmanay street party ready to jump into action at the first sign of any trouble
The gunmen were seen at a number of locations on December 31 around George Street and Princes Street, where both major celebrations to bring in the New Year were taking place.

Dressed all in black, the specially trained officers can be seen guarding over huge crowds. The snipers were one of many security personnel watching over the Hogmanay events in the city.
Due to the mass number of people attending and the reputation of the world famous street party the Snipers were jus there to ensure everyone was safe and to keep an eye from above.
Organisers confirmed that the event was a total sell out with 40,000 revellers celebrating the New Year at the world-famous street party and Concert in the Gardens, where party-goers from far and wide and enjoyed a performance from Pet Shop Boys.
The street party also entertained 30,000 people with live DJ sets and entertainment, connecting friends old and new from around the world to welcome in the New Year.
Cammy Day, Leader of City of Edinburgh Council, said: “Once again, Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations have been the envy of cities across the globe.
":With one of the most impressive fireworks displays against the most stunning of backdrops this was a fantastic way to ring in 2023.
"We’ve brought 40,000 revellers from all over the UK and further afield to discover our great capital city and tonight has truly been an international celebration of Scotland.”

Superintendent David Robertson, Police Scotland’s Event Policing Lead for the Street Party Policing Operation, said: “Significant planning and preparation was undertaken ahead of the city’s first Street Party since 2019 and I am pleased to say that it has passed without serious incident.
“My thanks go out to all of the officers, stewarding staff and other key partners who worked diligently to ensure the Hogmanay celebrations were a success.”
