A hugely popular women's fashion boutique in the New Town has announced it is to cease trading after more than half a century of serving Edinburgh's shoppers.
Jane Davidson, which is based on Thistle Street, first opened back in 1969 on the Grassmarket by local entrepreneur Jane Hall before moving to its current New Town location in the 1980s.
It's currently run by Jane's daughter Sarah Murray, who described the decision to close as "incredibly difficult", but that she hoped to see as many of their customers "as possible" before they officially closed for good in a few weeks time.

Widely hailed as one of the best fashion stores in the country, the boutique originally made its name on British brands such as Jean Muir and Ozzie Clark but has grown over the decades to include famous international and modern brands such as Jimmy Choo, Isabel Marant, Max & Moi, Veronica Beard and the Vampire's Wife.
It's won praise from influential fashion magazines such as Vogue and was even recently named independent retailer of the year at the Scotland Design Fashion awards. Always innovating, it also held the first virtual fashion show in Scotland during the height of the pandemic.
Speaking about her decision to close, Sarah said: “This boutique has been a constant presence in my life and I have absolutely loved my time running the business. Our customers have been incredibly loyal and many of them have become dear friends to both me and my mum.
"That sense of community is the most enjoyable part of what we do and it is the thing I will miss the most when we close our doors for the final time on 14 December."
It's thought the store’s remaining stock will now be sold off over the next few weeks with reductions across their ranges.
“As difficult as this decision has been," Sarah added. "I am looking forward to spending much more time with friends and family, especially my two daughters. I was always determined that if I did close the shop we would go out on a high and having been recognised for exceptional customer service by Drapers recently, that is unquestionably the case.
“I’m sure it will be an emotional few weeks for the whole team here, but we are looking forward to seeing as many of our customers as possible over the course of the next fortnight.”
