Edinburgh's former Scottish Widows site could be overhauled into 200 new homes and offices if plans are approved.
The proposals were put forward to the City Council this week after the iconic building next to the Commonwealth Pool has lay empty for two years.
Once a large office space for the pensions company, the site was cleared out in 2020, with many across the city waiting to hear what would be done with it.

Now, Schroders Capital Real Estate have put forward an application to renovate the current building into some new 'sustainable offices', with the addition of new housing.
Visualisations of the proposed new build have shown that the original brown structure will remain, due to its class A listed status in the city.
However, a new residential quarter would see 200 flats built around the site, with parts of the office building reduced but its historical features kept.

With part of the offices ancillary buildings to be demolished, along with the current car park, the residential flats would be a separate build from the former Scottish Widows block.
An initial proposal will now be considered by the council, with local consultations to take place over the coming months to ensure community opinions are considered.
The first public consultation event will be held within the building on Tuesday, May 31 between 2pm – 8pm. This will be followed up by two online live chat events via the project website, which is not yet live.
