Train passengers heading to and from Edinburgh face delays as train drivers are told to slow down during the ongoing heatwave. Bosses at Network Rail confirmed an "extreme heat warning" is placing speed restrictions on Scotland's main rail routes.
The measure will be in place between 1pm and 8pm on Monday and is expected to be similarly in force on Tuesday as temperatures in the capital soar to a sweltering 30C. Rail firms have take action after the Met Office issued an amber weather warning for Monday and Tuesday in eastern, southern and central parts of Scotland, where some temperatures are expected to exceed 30C.
Major rail lines hit with the restrictions will include the busy Edinburgh to North Berwick line, reports the Record. The route is popular with commuters heading into the capital for work.
