A reckless driver reportedly "drove" over an Edinburgh schoolboy's foot before speeding away from the scene.
Caleb Crighton, 13, was out with friends near the St James Quarter when a car drove over his foot catching it on the bumper before hesitating and deciding to drive off, his mum has told.

The incident allegedly took place on Saturday October 15 on Leith Street at 7.00pm. The young teen was so shaken up over the event he called his mum who advised him to go to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he was told he had broken his foot in two places.
The city centre teen now has a moon boot and crutches from the hospital and has been advised to rest his foot while it heals.
Speaking to Edinburgh Live mum Elaine Burt said: "I wasn’t with Caleb when it happened, he was with friends. I’m not sure if he may have crossed when traffic lights were green.
"Caleb is autistic and said he heard the beeping sound but it could be from the 2nd crossing. Just after a car went over his foot and was caught on bumper. The driver then paused for a couple of seconds and drove off.
"I found out when he phoned to say he’d been hit by a car and his friends were taking him to hospital but not to worry about him as he thought it was just a broken foot."
She added: "Police attended at hospital before I got there. They called and said it was unlikely they could identify the vehicle without clearer CCTV footage or witnesses and if I had any more information to contact them.
"They will contact me if they receive any further information, they didn’t give me an incident number as I was on my way to the hospital when they rang.
"He was with a friend who was over 16 however I did tell them Caleb is autistic and I found it strange they spoke to him without me being present."
The concerned mum also shared the incident on Facebook hoping to get some dash cam footage or witnesses to track down the driver.
She wrote: "My son was hit by a car on leith street at crossing opposite omni centre at around 18:55 on Saturday 15th of October. The car failed to stop. Fortunately he only sustained a broken foot."

She added: "CCTV footage isn’t clear enough to capture registration plate and I wondered if anyone had seen the accident or captured dash cam footage."
Elaine is now hoping for witnesses to come forward or anyone with dash cam footage from Leith Street on Saturday evening around 7.00pm. Police Scotland has been contacted for comment regarding the incident.
