Edinburgh's popular Christmas Santa Express experience will not be going ahead this year, organisers have revealed.
Last year, ScotRail teamed up with charity Railway Children to deliver an action-packed journey around Scotland onboard a 'Polar Express' train with entertainment and snacks.
In 2021, tickets for the event were sold out almost instantly and proved a massive hit with families and kids within Edinburgh and the Lothians, with the train departing from Waverley Station.

Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, the last few journey's last year were cancelled meaning dozens of customers missed out, and a fresh blow has been delivered to those hoping to get their hands on a ticket this festive season.
Railway Children confirmed to Edinburgh Live that they will not be providing the Santa Express experience this year and will have other experiences instead, although none of which will be based in Edinburgh.

Tickets sold out within hours in 2021 and raised a whopping £33,000 for Railway Children, with the trains departing from the capital in the morning and not returning until 5pm.
Included in the price of a ticket was a scenic tour of some of Scotland's most popular sights, a special gift from Santa and plenty of activities and interaction to keep kids entertained throughout the day.
