Edinburgh residents favour one supermarket in particular when preparing for Christmas dinner, according to a study.
Research carried out by New Casinos used Google data to find out the supermarket most in demand in order to reveal the store the people of the capital prefer for their festive food shop, with one crowned the clear winner.
Waitrose takes top spot, with Edinburgh residents most likely to get in the goodies from their local store in time for the big day - and most importantly the huge Christmas feast. From a big juicy turkey to all the trimmings, Waitrose is a firm festive favourite in the capital, with Sainsbury's and Morrisons taking second and third place respectively.

Amongst the festive food available in Waitrose this year is the Heston Blumenthal range. Included in the range is Heston's Turkey Breast on the Bone Crown. Perfect for a family get together, the meat serves eight and costs £72 (available between December 20 and December 24).
Also included is Heston's Festive Peking Duck (£40), and an Espresso Martini Chocolate Torte (£16).
The John-Lewis owned store amped up their Scottish present in late 2021, and it certainly seems as if the efforts have paid off.
In a tie-up with Edinburgh and East Lothian convenience chance Margiotta in November last year, hundreds of Waitrose products become more available throughout the areas.
Following conclusion of the research, a spokesperson from New Casinos said: "Often when looking to discover the Christmas products available this year, most people’s first course of action is to consult Google for information on deals available, spending comparison, and quality of item.
“By analysing the number of searches for each supermarket, we were able to get a good picture of which one each major city in the UK is looking to shop in for their Christmas food shop. Waitrose was the most frequently searched for supermarket, coming out top for half of the UK cities, closely followed by Sainsbury's.
Christmas can be an extremely exciting time, with many companies making a huge profit from this season. It is interesting to see which supermarkets are winning the race to be the most popular choice for Christmas food and that some are taking over other prominent shops.”
