Edinburgh's Calton Hill is set to be one of 25 different locations in which the iconic 'hope is everything' bench from the Netflix show After Life will be displayed, prompting people to speak up about their thoughts and feelings.
Netflix have teamed up with a suicide prevention campaign to place 25 benches from Ricky Gervais' binge-worthy show across the UK, with only two locations featuring in Scotland.
After the recent release of the hit show's third series, Netflix and CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) have pledged to deliver 25 of the iconic benches in reference to numerous gripping scenes within the show.

Referring to Tony Johnson (Ricky Gervais) who becomes a regular user of a similar bench within a cemetery throughout the three seasons, emphasis is being made on how vital speaking to people about such issues can cause a change of heart to people with suicidal thoughts or who are struggling with mental health.
Throughout the show, Tony struggles to come to terms with life without his beloved wife who he lost to cancer, and contemplates taking his own life on multiple occasions.
After hours of brutally honest chats with a fellow lonely widow (Penelope Wilton) they confine in each other and spur on one and other to battle through their depressive state and appreciate the friends they still have around them.
In between battling his way through his own dark thoughts, Tony lives life without a single care in the world, leading to some rather humorous scenes throughout the show, in typical Ricky Gervais fashion.
As well as leaving people holding a box of tissues, it also had people crippled with laughter and tears of joy.
Now, fans of the show will be able to put themselves in the same situation as Tony and express their feelings and emotions with friends, family or even those they don't know.
It has been confirmed that the iconic Calton Hill in Edinburgh will benefit from one of the benches, with the words 'hope is everything' inscribed on the wood, in relation to the show. There will also be a QR code with a link to various resources for those struggling with mental health issues.
It will be only one of two Scottish locations for the benches, with Glasgow Green being the other.
Although it has not been confirmed when the benches will be placed across the UK, it is certain to bring a bit of hope for those who may be needing it.
