Edinburgh's Bross Bagels hosts Burns supper with special guests

Mama Bross is set to put on a Burns supper to remember with the introduction of a vegan bagel created by one of the nation’s favourite sons, Alan Cumming.

The event will take place at the Bross Bagel deli in St James’ Quarter and will last from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, January 25.

Guests will be able to have their taste buds tingled as the Bross Boss and her team cook up the ‘Cumming Thro’ The Rye’ bagel, which is made up of a Stout & Rye bagel, Macsween vegan haggis, pickled neep slaw, hash brown and whisky mayo.

A Burns poetry reading will be made by the Kilt Master, Howie, from 21st Century Kilts and a wee dram will also be offered by local whisky suppliers UHURU.

Advertising the event, Bross Bagels say: “Bross will be celebrating BURNS DAY for a HOLE week with this bagel available in all their shops.

“On Jan 25 the festivities will kick off at the deli in St James Quarter, with this special event for invited guests where Mama Bross and her team will address the MacSween Haggis Bagel while you enjoy a Burns poetry reading by The Kilt Master himself Howie from 21st Century Kilts and a wee dram of local Whiskey suppliers UHURU.”

The Macsween family added: "Who better to spend Burns Night with than Mama Bross and Alan Cumming? My family’s Vegetarian Haggis recipe was the first to be made commercially available in the UK, so we’re thrilled to be ‘Cumming thro' the rye’ with our pals at Bross Bagels as part of this Scottish celebration."
