Edinburgh restaurant hidden away on Royal Mile close seeking new owners

An Edinburgh restaurant with an enviable location in the heart of the capital could be brought back to life by new owners.

The unique venue, hidden away on Craig's Close off the Royal Mile, used to home to the popular Thai eatery Krua Khun Mae. However, their lease has come to an end and the space is now being marketed to prospective new chefs or operators.

And as pictures show, it wouldn't take long for someone to get a restaurant up and running, with property agents Christie and Co describing the premises as 'decorated to a high standard with wood panelled walls and a featured ceiling which would suit a variety of different concepts'. All fixtures and fittings would be included as part of any potential sale.

Described as a 70-cover licensed restaurant for sale on a leasehold basis, the price quoted is £15,000.

Christie and Co say: "The restaurant premises has been leased out for eight years and was previously trading as a Thai restaurant however, the lease has now came to an end. The business was successful and boasted excellent reviews via TripAdvisor, Google and Facebook.

The restaurant is located on Craig's Close (Christie & Co / RightMove)

"The tenant's departure presents a fantastic opportunity for the right chef or owner operator to lease a property which is well positioned within Edinburgh's Old Town.

"This is a great opportunity for an owner operator / chef to lease a property located in a prime location within the heart of Edinburgh City Centre Old Town."

Krua Khun Mae was open as recently as last year, but sadly had to close during the pandemic.
