Edinburgh restaurant crowned as one of the best in the world

AN Edinburgh establishment has been crowned one of the best restaurants in the world.

The Witchery, located in the heart of the Scottish capital near Edinburgh Castle, has been named first in the UK and fourth in the world for fine dining in Tripadvisor's Traveller's Choice Best of the Best 2026 awards.

This means that the popular establishment is ranked among the top 1% of restaurants on Tripadvisor globally.

The accolade, which is the highest award given out by Tripadvisor, is based on the quality and quantity of traveller reviews collected worldwide over the past 12 months.

The Witchery, run by James Thomson, was the only UK restaurant featured on the global list.

The gothic-style eatery and hotel is renowned for its menu, which offers some of the best of Scotland's locally-sourced produce, including seafood from East Lothian and the West Coast, game from the Highlands and Scottish beef.
