An Edinburgh diner has slammed their experience at a city centre restaurant, after they were ‘rudely’ interrupted mid-meal.
The customer, who said the food at Topolabamba was 'lovely', claims that their meal was cut short when they were told the restaurant needed the table back. According to them, the party was still eating.
They go on to say that despite being offered another table, this offer was taken away after the bill was put on the table. The customer said if they had the chance, they would’ve wanted more food and drinks - though the experience ‘put a dampener’ on their evening.

Managers at Topolabamba were quick to apologise, adding that they would ensure staff knew about the incident and improved future experiences.
The full review reads: “We visited last Saturday with friends as this place is a favourite of theirs, first impressions were great, food arrived fast and everything was lovely.
“Everything went south when we were told, just over an hour into sitting (whilst we were still eating, may I add) that our table was needed in the next five minutes however we could be moved to another table if we wanted, however, straight after the bill was place on our table taking that option away.
“Extremely rude. This put such a dampener on our evening, especially considering we hadn’t even finished our drinks or food, in actual fact we would have ordered more food and cocktails given the chance.”
Quick to respond, the manager at Topolabamba said: “I’m sorry that your evening was cut short, we aim to let all of our reservations and walk in tables know how long they will have at the table.
“I’m going to use this opportunity to address this with my team so that we can prevent these issues in the future.”
Despite this review, Topolabamba appears to be popular with customers in general. Overall, they have a 4.5 star rating on TripAdvisor and scores fourth out of 28 Mexican eateries in Edinburgh.
They currently have 369 ‘excellent’ reviews, and only 17 ‘terrible’. A review posted on the exact same day reads: “Fabulous Mexican authentic freshly cooked well presented, fabulous atmosphere and staff.
“Awesome cocktails, chilled vibe, no rushing. Highly recommended.”
