Edinburgh residents evacuated after emergency incident on busy street

Edinburgh firefighters have raced to an early morning blaze in a Leith flat.

The incident took place at 8.38 am on Thursday November 24 on Easter Road near the Lorne Street Junction.

One nearby resident told Edinburgh Live that residents were standing on the street after reportedly being evacuated.

Images show yellow tape cornering off the street where the incident took place and four engines including a height appliance outside the tenement flats on the Leith street.

There are no reports of any injuries and the Scottish Fire Service confirmed the fire that was in one of the flats has now been put out.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire Service said: "We received a report at 8:38 am on November 24 of a fire in a flat on Easter Road.

"Three appliances attended the incident and the small fire was extinguished on arrival.

"There were no injuries."
