Edinburgh is one of the most beautiful places to live, if we do say so ourselves.
And although we may be a tad bias since we live here, it seems so many others agree with more and more people wanting to visit or move to our capital - and Scotland as a whole.
Prices across the city are soaring however making it a little bit harder for people to secure their dream home with Rightmove estimating that properties in Edinburgh over the last year were up six per cent on the previous year and 26 per cent down on the 2007 peak of £438,534.

So with prices sky rocketing and people handing over a lot more thanks to the Scottish 'offers over' system, we wanted to see what the difference in properties were between our Capital and our sister city, Glasgow.
Here's what we discovered you could get in each city for around £1 million.
Belford Park, Edinburgh, EH4
First up is Edinburgh's Belford Park. This highly-sought after area is located in the West End of the city and is within easy walking distance of the city centre and Haymarket station.
This property is currently on the market for 'offers in region of' £1 million exactly.
The stunning house boasts five bedrooms and two bathrooms - all of which are clean, bright and airy.
The house comes with a south facing garden as well as southerly views over the Water of Leith making use of any sunlight we get here in Scotland.
Not only does the property have a fantastic location and a great number of double bedrooms, it also retains much of its periodic features forming part of a Victorian villa.
According to Rightmove, the property was built in 1875 and is entered through its own front door at ground level into a vestibule with a door providing access towards the garden.
Upon entering visitors also see a wide carpeted staircase which ascends to the generous first floor hall.
The rest of the stunning property is all very modern with a separate dining, living and kitchen space and to make it even more appealing, the kitchen is fitted with an extensive range of shaker style floor & wall fitted units complimented with granite worktops, a hob, double oven and extractor hood.
Not only that but the master bedroom has a marble fireplace - perfect for when the winter weather and colder nights kicks in.

Langside Drive, Glasgow G43
Looking at Glasgow we came across some lovely properties - many of which we were left very jealous by.
Whilst properties in the city centre are expensive, we found one with a similar price with offers just over the one million pound mark.
Located in one of the most desirable locations in the city, this property is situated in Glasgow's southside - popular for its vast amount of cafes and restaurants as well as stunning areas to walk such as Queen's Park.
Spanning over three levels, the recently renovated Victorian villa is on the market for 'offers over' £1,100,000.
The property, which was built around 1900, comes with four bedrooms, five bathrooms and three receptions - and although this is one less bedroom than the one here in the Capital, it offers an additional three bathrooms and two reception rooms.
Although this may be reflected in the higher price tag, it's not a significant jump and still offers great value for money when compared against each other.
Just like the Edinburgh property, this home has also retained its periodic features with its high ceilings, glass balustrades, oak floors and many other exceptional features.
According to Rightmove, the home also comes with a family room said to be "fantastic" for people who like to entertain.
On their website they wrote the room offers "plenty of space for entertaining and dining, it has windows all-round looking onto the rear garden and French door leading through to a rear hallway with shower room, store room and access to the kitchen, this links back to the main hallway.
"The contemporary kitchen is well appointed with a range of high spec built in appliances, fitted units, plenty of space for dining, French doors leading through to the dining and doors out to the garden and terrace. The utility room of located off."
To make the home even better, the ceiling has exposed beams and French doors with a Juliet balcony looking over the garden with the property allowing plenty of natural light in.
Location wise the property is situated in a great place with it forming part of the highly-sought after suburb of Newlands, acknowledged as one of Greater Glasgow’s most sought after residential areas. It is conveniently located just four miles to the south of the city centre and provides amble transport links to other areas nearby.
