Edinburgh property: Swish new flats hit the market inside old art deco cinema

A number of Edinburgh flats have hit the market inside a transformed art deco cinema.

The former big screen on Great Junction Street has been under works for some time, with the interior being ripped out and changed into new homes.

Keeping the original framework of the building, a new extension has also been added to the rear to allow for a number of modern flats to be constructed.

Although work is still ongoing to complete the new Leith development, a number of apartments have now been released onto the market, with incredible pictures giving an inside look.

Entered still under the classic picture house canopy, the building has had its entrance foyer restored, as well as a new residents courtyard for the new owners to enjoy.

A total of 22 flats have been created, ranging from one bedroom flats to three bedroom penthouses with "panoramic views" of the city.

The homes also range in price, with the average two bedroom apartment costing somewhere around £340,000.

Images of the interior have shown large, bright and spacious rooms, with luxury bathrooms and large windows looking over the city.

Speaking about the new homes, Rettie said: "200 Great Junction Street is a development that caters to all needs and offers a choice of styles and layouts. Parking and cycle storage are accessed down the private lane and sits securely underneath the building.

"Six electric charging points are also in the basement parking. Located on one of Leith's most iconic streets, 200 Great Junction Street offers a variety of contemporary 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments on the banks of the Water of Leith.

"Across the water is the Water of Leith Walkway which meanders across the City from Balerno to Leith Docks. Famed as a city of culture, with Leith at its heart, the city has an abundance of theatres, museums and art galleries to explore. 5 minutes' walk from the vibrant Shore or a stroll up Leith walk, 200 Great Junction Street offers an excellent opportunity to live at the centre of everything which makes Edinburgh so great."
