It's a bad time to be looking for a new home, with soaring property prices and the worsening cost of living crisis.
Many families are locked out of buying due to the prohibitively expensive costs, but rent prices in Edinburgh aren't cheap either.
However, there are some good deals to be found in the capital, depending on where you're looking to live.

While the West End and New Town are unsurprisingly pricey, other areas are far more reasonable.
To help you find the perfect flat, we took to Rightmove to find the cheapest one-bedroom properties available to rent in each part of Edinburgh.
New Town

Price: £875 per month
Given its desirable location in the New Town, it shouldn't come as a surprise that this gorgeous flat is almost £900 a month. While it doesn't have a bath, the interior offers almost everything else you would expect from a one-bedroom property at this price-point. The highlight is the cute private garden patio.

That's more like it. At £600 a month, this Leith flat is far more affordable for the majority of renters. Inside, it's not bad at all — coming fully furnished with a sizeable living space and a bath. That kitchen could do with a touch up, though.

The main catch is that it doesn't come furnished, though if you already have your own belongings this could be an advantage rather than a setback. Everything is grey and white at the moment, so is something of a blank canvas.

If you're after somewhere close to the beach, you can't get much better than Portobello.
