Edinburgh shoppers have been evacuated after a fire in the city centre sparked a major emergency service response.
Four fire crews and a height appliance are currently tackling the blaze in the Rose Street Lane area of Edinburgh, with shoppers in multiple Princes Street stores being forced to leave the building.
Black smoke can be seen billowing into the sky from a distance as the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that a pile of rubbish was set alight and triggered the blaze.

A spokesperson for the SFRS confirmed that they received reports of rubbish on fire at 14:47 on Thursday, September 15, and four appliances, as well as a height appliance are currently at the scene.
Pictures show black smoke pouring from the ground and up the back of buildings near Rose Street Lane, as fire engines were seen arriving on the narrow street.
It is currently unclear what caused the blaze and if there are any reports of injuries.
