Edinburgh police have swooped on a residential street in Dalry after reports grenades were found in a property.
A marked police van, car and an officer on a motorbike could all be seen outside M&D newsagents at the corner of Dalry Road and Caledonian Road at around 1.40pm on the afternoon of Wednesday June 7.
Concerned onlookers have also reported seeing two police cars and officers going door-to-door a short walk away from the junction on Caledonian Crescent. Officers were also seen sifting through bins and putting items in evidence bags.
A police cordon has been put in place with residents evacuated from homes as bomb disposal experts called in.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 12.20pm on Wednesday 7 June, 2023, following reports that suspected grenades were found with a property at Caledonian Crescent in Edinburgh
“Explosive Ordnance Disposal team has been contacted. A number of properties are being evacuated as a precaution and a cordon has been put in place.”
