Edinburgh police scramble to disturbance at residential chip shop

Police Scotland have been called to a disturbance at Duart Crescent in Edinburgh which involved a number of people.

Officers say that they were called to attend an incident at the residential row of shops and takeaways in Drum Brae.

It is not understood what had caused the disturbance however police have said that a group of people were involved but that no injuries had been reported.

The new Passion chip shop had two police officers gathering statements from several staff members within the eatery.

The shutters to the premises were lowered when an Edinburgh Live journalist arrived on the scene at around 7:00pm.

Several residents in the community were seen gathered outside of the chip shop trying to understand what had occurred at the premises.

A concerned resident posted on a local community Facebook group asking for more information.

They said: “Does anyone know what's happening at Duart Crescent? There's a large Police attendance at the Chip Shop, five police cars arrived with sirens and blue lights, dogs and all.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Officers were called to a disturbance at around 6:00pm on Sunday June 19 involving a number of people in Duart Crescent.

“There are no reports of injuries at this present time and enquiries are ongoing.”

At around 7:10pm, officers from Police Scotland could be seen exiting the business from the rear exit of the chip shop.

It is not understood when Passion chip shop will reopen.
