Edinburgh police issue appeal to information after biker fled a crash on Niddrie

Police Scotland are issuing an appeal to the public for information after a crash in Edinburgh.

The crash involved a motorcycle and subsequent fire on Niddrie Mains Road just before 7pm on July 29. Police believe the rider of the motorcycle left the scene before emergency services arrived.

Emergency crews raced to the scene near Duddingston after the alarm was raised, extinguishing the fire when they arrived. So far, nobody appears to have been injured in the incident.

The police are now launching an investigation to establish the full circumstances of the crash. Cops are urging any witnesses or anyone with footage of the incident to call 101 and quote reference number 3102 of July 29.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a crash involving a single motorcycle and subsequent fire at Niddrie Mains Road shortly before 7pm on Friday, 29 July.

“The rider of the motorcycle left the scene prior to emergency services arriving. The fire was extinguished and enquiries are ongoing. Nobody has presented as injured following the incident.

“Anyone with information or footage of the incident can call 101, quoting reference 3102 of 29 July.”
