Edinburgh police find body during search for missing man as family informed

A body has been found at a popular Edinburgh beauty spot with the family of a recently-reported missing man being notified by Police Scotland.

Officers made the tragic discovery on Saturday morning, June 24, at Holyrood Park and say although formal identification is yet to take place, the family of William Robertson have been informed.

Police recently appealed to the public for help tracing the 63-year-old from the Leith area. They say there appears to be no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A statement read: "Around 10am on Saturday, 24 June, the body of a man was found in the Holyrood Park area of Edinburgh.

"Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of William Robertson, 63, reported missing from the Leith area, has been informed.

"There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
