Police in the north east of Edinburgh have continued a recent crackdown on drivers outside two schools in the area, with several motorists being given fines.
Last week, officers were present outside St Mary's Primary School in Leith to enforce a pedestrian and cyclist zone. During their visit, 11 drivers were slapped with fines for entering a prohibited zone when the lights on a sign were flashing.
Following this, Edinburgh Live visited St Mary's that day during pick-up time to speak with locals about the crackdown. Many parents were in agreement that police enforcing the zone was a good idea and makes the area safer for children.

This week, police in the north east division took to Twitter to confirm that they had continued their crackdown in the area, and were also situated outside Leith Primary School.
They said that further fixed penalties were issued and in one scenario, a driver was found to be on the road without a licence or insurance. They were reported to the Crown Office and their vehicle was seized.
Officers added: "NECPT officers have continued to carry out enforcement at @st_marys_leith and @Leith_Primary schools. A number of fixed penalties have been issued and one driver was found to have no driving license or insurance. Reported to @COPFS and vehicle seized."
Elsewhere in the area, the north east division were on hand again to stop a driver on Easter Road. After further examination, the motorist was found to have no insurance.
They added: "NECPT and @PolScotVol NEST Special Constable on routine patrols stopped this van at Easter Road. The vehicle was found to have no insurance. Driver received £300 fine and 6 penalty points. Vehicle seized."
