Edinburgh mum pushed to the ground by thugs before they stole her dog and drove off

An Edinburgh mum has been reportedly pushed to the ground by thugs who jumped out from a van before they stole her dog and drove off at Leith Links on November 6.

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon while Lorraine, 55, was out walking three-year-old labradour Echo in the local park.

Her daughter Cara Gordon, 27, told how shaken her mum was after the incident and explained how heartbroken her eight-year-old daughter is to lose her furry best friend in such a horrific way.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live Cara said: "My mum was walking our dog in Leith Links, Seafield Place side when two men wearing dark clothes and face coverings jumped out a silver/ grey car.

"One pushed my mum to the ground and the other grabbed our dog and they jumped in and drove the car away."

She added: "She’s very shaken up and my daughter is devastated.

"It’s horrible we feel so helpless.

"Just thinking how scared she must be is heartbreaking. We've had her since she was eight weeks old and she’s now three. She’s part of the family and for this to happen so close to Christmas is just brutal."

Cara put an appeal out on Facebook and wrote: "Two men have stole my dog from my mum. Leith Links apple orchard end roughly around 1pm if you have any information or live nearby with any security footage please get in touch.

"This happened across from Seafield Services between 1pm and 1:17pm. The men were wearing dark clothing and snood/face covering. Thought to be Caucasian. Came from the direction of Seafield road and drove away the opposite direction of Seafield road."
