Edinburgh Stellar Monarchs are looking to race to success as they get their 2023 season underway in Armadale on Friday night.
It’s a day that didn’t seem likely just six months ago as the club believed they’d be saying farewell to the famous old stadium but they’re back for tapes up once again after agreeing a deal for the new campaign.
And their season opener couldn’t get any spicier as they welcome Glasgow Tigers to West Lothian for a Scottish derby clash.
It’s a new-look Monarchs line-up now led by Aussie ace Josh Pickering while the return of club legend Craig Cooke to blue and gold following a near decade-long absence could prove a tremendous signing.
New club captain Pickering commented: "I think we have the right people in the right positions, Cookie and I at the top end, Kye in the middle with Paco makes us strong there, Lasse is a good second string and I have already said I expect big seasons from Jacob and Kyle. I feel like both of them could be pushing for the main body and could hold their own at number two if they come up.
"There are other teams that look strong in some areas but weaker in others, but I think all our guys are in the right position and I have a confident feeling about this team."
The action at the Armadale Stadium gets underway from 7.30pm.
