Edinburgh Meadowbank Sports Centre to offer free access to celebrate official opening

Edinburgh's newest sports centre will be hosting its official opening day next month, despite being unveiled in July.

Edinburgh Leisure's Meadowbank Centre has proved a huge hit with the local community since finally opening its doors following a string of delays due to Covid and material sourcing issues.

Although the state-of-the-art complex opened to the public on July 19, the City of Edinburgh Council will be holding its official opening on Friday, November 4. To celebrate the occasion, the whole centre will be free-to-use until the end of the weekend.

Boasting a new gym, café, athletics track and various fitness studios, Meadowbank has become a hub for sporting enthusiasts across the city and a welcomed addition to the local area.

Over the weekend beginning November 4, there will be kids’ coaching, gym, fitness classes, racquet sports, and the running track and athletics area available for everyone to come and try for free and to find out first-hand what all the fuss is about.

Donald Goldsmith, Manager at Meadowbank Sports Centre said: “My team and I have been enjoying welcoming customers old and new to these state-of-the-art facilities but there are still lots of people across the city who haven’t had the opportunity to see this fantastic new facility for Edinburgh.
