Drivers across the capital have been warned to take care when out and above this weekend.
It comes as the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for ice which covers much of Scotland, including Edinburgh.
Writing an update on their website the forecasters have said that "icy surfaces and high ground snow" could lead to "difficult travelling conditions in places on Saturday night and Sunday morning."

Detailing their reasoning for an update they explain: "Frequent showers, falling as snow above around 400 metres with accumulations of 5-10 cm across the Southern Uplands, will gradually ease overnight with clear spells developing across northern Scotland initially, extending further south towards the end of Saturday night."
As a result, "this will allow wet surfaces to fall below freezing leading to some icy stretches on untreated surfaces" says the Met Office.
The Met Office has said that the yellow weather warning will come into force on Saturday (January 14) at 10pm. It is expected to continue later into the night with it ending at 10am on Sunday (January 15).
What to expect
According to the Met Office, people under the ice warning should expect:
- Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
- Probably some ice on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
