Edinburgh IKEA launches new £7 afternoon tea with Swedish and Scottish treats

Edinburgh IKEA is set to treat locals to a brand new dining experience as they run a series of unique events in January.

Known for their cheap flat-pack furniture and their iconic meatballs and chips served up in the cafe, the superstore is always a popular spot for shoppers.

However, in a bid to try something new, the furniture giant will now be offering a brand new 'afternoon tea' experience - and it will be under a tenner.

Located in their first floor cafe which looks out over the car park, diners will be treated to a selection of finger foods as they watch on over shoppers trying to squeeze a flat-pack wardrobe into the boot of their Nissan Micra.

Describing the new dishes as a "blend of cultures" from both Sweden and the UK, each person will pay a total cost of £7, for which they will be provided with traditional cakes, sandwiches, fruit and biscuits.

In addition, there will also be "refreshing sparkling drinks" as well as teas and coffees.

Vegetarian options will also be available, with locals invited to book a slot for the experience, which will run every Tuesdsy, Wednesday and Thursday in January.

You can find more on the events and how to book a table on the IKEA website.
