Edinburgh hour-by-hour weather forecast this weekend as sun to stay shining

Another weekend is almost upon us in Edinburgh, and with that comes more opportunity to step out and enjoy the summer sunshine.

The last couple of weeks have seen some stunning concerts at BT Murrayfield, the Edinburgh derby in the Scottish Premiership, and the Edinburgh Marathon.

All of these have been shrouded in sunshine, but with some much-needed relaxation awaiting us this weekend, will the sun continue to stay in the sky?

Edinburgh Live has created an hour by hour forecast of the weather this weekend, with the help of forecasters from BBC Weather and the Met Office.

Thursday evening's forecast

According to BBC Weather, the sun will set by 9.45pm this evening, with 12C the highest temperature from now until 8pm.

Clouds will appear in the sky by 5pm, where the temperature will drop to a low of 10C throughout the evening.

Friday's forecast

Friday will begin with some cloud at 6am, which will clear by 8am and the sun will rise into the sky, with an average temperature of 11C to start off with.

By 12pm, the temperature will rise to 14C, reaching highs of 16C by 2pm tomorrow afternoon. The sun will stay shining, with no clouds and a gentle breeze.

By 4pm, the temperature will drop one to 15C, with no chance of rain and a 8mph wind to contend with. The evening will see a continuance of more sunshine, with the temperature dropping to 13C by 7pm on Friday night.

The sun will go down at approximately 9.47pm according to the Met Office, with lows of 8C throughout the evening.

Saturday's forecast

Saturday will be another stunner, with temperatures hitting a lovely 13C by 9am, with the sun continuing to shine until 12pm - when some clouds will appear.

The blue skies will return by 2pm, with highs of 17C and little to no chance of rain throughout the day. The temperatures will begin to drop by 5pm, to 15C alongside a gentle breeze.

Lows of 6C will occur throughout the evening, as the sun is set to lower from the sky closer to 10pm on Saturday evening.

Throughout the night, there will be 5mph winds and the sun will rise again by 5am on Sunday morning.

Sunday's forecast

Sunday is a similar story to Saturday, with highs of 18C and a gentle breeze throughout. Temperatures will jump to 15C by 11am, reaching highs of 18C by 4pm that day.

The sun will blaze in the sky the whole day, still remaining warm into the afternoon with 7mph winds to deal with throughout the capital.

Edinburgh will begin to cool off by 7pm, with lows of 13C occurring by 10pm on Sunday evening.

Outlook for next week

Next week will be a mix of scorching temperatures and cloudy weather, as Monday, June 5 will see highs of 19C and sunny skies.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be cloudier for most, with highs of 17C and lows of 7C.

The sun will return on Thursday, with highs of 17C and no chance of rain. Friday, June 9 will see 18C weather but some cloud to contend with.
