Bosses of a hotel in Edinburgh have apologised after a tourist hit out at the cleaner who allegedly made a "rude" suggestion to them during their stay.
The incident took place at Yotel Edinburgh on Albyn Place last month when guests from Abu Dhabi were shocked to find the cleanliness of the room was not up to scratch.

When they informed a member of the cleaning staff about this, they were reportedly told to "clean it themselves."
Slamming the hotel on Tripadvisor the customer described the interaction as "one of the worst experiences in my life" and was disappointed to not receive an upgrade.
The holidaymaker hit out at the branded hotel and wrote: "It was one of the worst experiences in my life because they didn't clean the room in a proper way.
"When I asked the cleaner to reclean the room she was so rude and asked me to clean it by myself. I called the hotel asking them to clean it. "
They continued: "After that when I came back to the hotel the receptionist cleaned the room for me and kept me waiting for two hours... and they didn't even upgrade my room."
A member of management replied: "Thank you for your review. I am disappointed to see that you had issues during your stay. This is not our usual standard of service and I apologise for this.
"Your comments have been passed onto the housekeeping team."
Yotel is a four-star hotel in the city centre which is described as tech-savvy and smartly designed to save space.
One customer said: "Wonderful hotel in the best Edi location. Everything on walking distance, a cool area, and nice people. The room is very nice, clean and comfy. Extraordinary staff.
"Breakfast is very good with continental and Scottish choices. Gym super H24. Water refill and complimentary coffee/tea."
Another customer said: "Had a nice experience at the hotel all the reception staff were very polite, helpful and professional when I checked in and out.
"A lady on reception was really helpful when I had a small issue with my room, so please reward her for her exemplary customer service.
"The breakfast staff were also very accommodating."
