An Edinburgh hairdressers could be transformed into a restaurant and takeaway business after a previous application was knocked back.
Ice hairdressing, on London Road, which has permanently closed, my make way for the new business after a planning application was proposed to the City of Edinburgh Council.
The exact type and name of the restaurant is yet to be disclosed as part of the initial plans but it will now be assessed by the council's planning team before permission is granted.

A similar application was also drawn up at the end of 2021, although it was eventually refused by the council on the grounds that it could have an unacceptable impact on local amenity.
Taking the size of the building into consideration, which is squeezed between a newsagents and a knitting workshop, the proposed layout of the restaurant shows just a few tables planned to occupy the ground floor.
Objections to the first application were led by locals who pointed to the fact that the proposed layout includes the kitchen in the basement of the building, with neighbours concerned over a lack of access and ventilation. The building is also just a few doors down from the busy junction with Easter Road, meaning potential parking spaces could be scarce.
An Indian takeaway and several cafe's occupy the surrounding site on London Road, with the regeneration of Meadowbank inviting a lot of new business propositions to the area. The completion of Edinburgh Leisure's Meadowbank sports centre and the addition of several hundred student flats has added more opportunities just outside of the city centre.
