To celebrate Pride Month, Big Fish Little Fish Scotland are returning to Edinburgh on June 25 for another award-winning rave.
This year marks the organisation’s sixth birthday, having started in 2016, and has since welcomed nearly 20,000 party-goers of all ages into their family-friendly raves.
Taking place at The Debating Hall in Teviot House and starting from 2pm, the fun-filled family event aims to celebrate Edinburgh’s LGBTQ+ community.
The event is not ticketed, and entry is on a first come first serve basis, which means all excited ravers have to be quick on the day to ensure they are guaranteed a spot in the extremely popular rave extravaganza.

The rave is set to include Big Fish Little Fish household name, DJ Cyndi Wallauper, who will be playing some house favourites, including samples from top hits of the 80s and 90s as well as a variety of classic guilty pleasures. To help protect little ears, DJs play the same set that they would usually play to audiences at 3am, just a little quieter and music is monitored to remain at a safe level throughout the entire show.
In previous years, the event has also featured a bunch of free activities such as transfer tattoos and playdoh tables for kids to show their artistic side. This year, the event is also set to include a baby chill, a craft zone, and a sensory dancefloor with bubbles, snow machines, giant balloons and confetti cannons. Like all successful rave events, Big Fish Little Fish have previously featured a licensed bar for the party parents, and a range of yummy cupcakes for the youngsters.
As well as taking place regularly in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen, Big Fish Little Fish have also seen a turnout of mini-ravers at festivals such as Doune The Rabbithole, Belladrum and have even taken part in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. As a result of their show successes, Big Fish Little Fish were awarded their fifth consecutive Audience Choice Award for ‘Best Family Event’ at the Fantastic For Families Awards organised by National Arts Council and in 2018, won the ‘Best Family Entertainment’ Hoop award.
Big Fish Little Fish Scotland Manager Kirstie Wilson set up the organisation with Pride families in mind and wanted to ensure all events were a safe and welcoming space for the LGBTQ+ community.
She said" “We do something very unique and our events are about finding a connection and passion of yours to share with your kids and that’s always been what Big Fish Little Fish has been built on.
"Edinburgh Pride is a huge day in the calendar for the company, as they have been given slots for their free shows every year since 2017. I love knowing that I’m authentically delivering something a little bit different to Scottish Rainbow families and I’m very proud to be responsible for such a successful addition to the family calendar.
"I especially love to bring my events to Pride, it has always been incredibly important to our team and our ethos.
“This is a slightly smaller scale due to the capacity of The Debating Hall. We will have a baby chill, small craft area and our sensory dance floor. Many rainbow families are hesitant of attending kids discos as there’s always ‘games’ where they split into girls and boys or ask mums or dads to line up and it fills them with anxiety.
"We never do anything like this, our events are about finding a bond and not having to worry about which toilet to use. Inclusion costs nothing more than investing consideration and a few simple changes. I don’t understand why people wouldn’t do this!”
