Edinburgh Fringe weather as capital set for thunder and lightning

Over the past few weeks the weather across the UK has been a mixture of very hot and very cold.

During this month we had a heatwave which saw temperatures sky rocket above 30C in some parts of Scotland - including Edinburgh - whilst Londoners basked in highs of 40C causing travel chaos across the rail network.

And whilst we are still set to see double figures soon, these won't be nearly as high as what we have just experienced.

But we will however see some dramatic weather with the capital set for thunderstorms. According to forecasters at AccuWeather, August 9 (Tuesday) will see highs of 20C and lows of 13C.

And on the same day, this is when the thunder and lightning is due to take place during the afternoon, though no exact time is given as to when this should be expected.

As well as the storm, we are likely going to see a downpour throughout, with much of the day set for heavy cloud coverage. The humidity is also high with it currently predicted to reach 72 per cent - an increase of over 20 per cent on today's humidity ratings.

But with this all set to happen after next week, what can we expect closer to the time? Here's what you need to know.
