Edinburgh fixer upper hits the market for £69K - but it needs a serious overhaul

Edinburgh's cheapest flat has hit the market and is set to be auctioned off later this month, however, it needs a lot of work.

Issued with a guide price of £69,500, the three bedroom property comes with a lot of space, ground floor access and even a front garden.

Boasting a lot of potential, the offer could get you a lot for your money in comparison to some of the city's luxury one-bedroom apartments that could set you back over half a million.

However, the flat does come with a catch, and it's going to need a serious overhaul before it even becomes habitable.

Currently photographed with smashed front windows, the property in West Pilton has been scraped back to the bare bones, with significant mould and damp, as well as a huge amount of rubbish.

With the bedrooms seen piled high with disused items and suitcases, the kitchen is also in a sorry state, with the bathroom looking very similar.

Despite the setbacks, the flat is expected to be snapped up at auction due to its serious potential as both a fixer-upper and investment opportunity.

The flat will be going under the hammer at Auction House Scotland’s in-room auction taking place at 2.00pm on Thursday January 26 at the Radisson RED hotel, 25 Tunnel Street, Glasgow.

Mandi Cooper, Managing Director of Auction House Scotland said: “With a competitive guide price and being within easy reach of Edinburgh city centre, this spacious flat offers an exciting opportunity for a buyer to add significant value, whether for resale, rental or occupation as a family home.”

Further information about the property, the auction and how to register to bid can be found on the auction house website at auctionhouse.co.uk/scotland or by calling 0141 339 4466.
