Edinburgh firefighters raced to a raging blaze that was tearing through a flat in Newington flat late last night, April 8, - requiring three engines and a height appliance to fight the fire.
The incident took place at around 9pm last night on West Preston Street with the first call put into the fire service at 9:27pm and hero firefighters arriving just five minutes later.
The emergency services were at the scene fighting the inferno for over an hour.
Witnesses described how the incident must have been terrifying as four residents were rescued from a middle window due to amount of thick smoke trapping them in their homes.

The raging blaze tore through a middle floor flat in the West Preston Street tenement causing grey smoke to fill the property.
Images show the residents being rescued from their third floor window through the fire service height appliance.
Thankfully there were no casualties from the fire.

Stefan Koks said: "Four people were brought down.
"They told me the fire alarm went off and then there was a huge amount of smoke.
"They couldn't get down through the stairways due to the smoke, so they were rescued through the window."
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed to Edinburgh Live that four engines including a height appliance attending the inferno on West Preston Street at 21:32 on Friday night (April 8).
The fire service also confirmed there were no casualties.
