Edinburgh firefighters race to huge blaze as fire tears through two-storey house

Edinburgh firefighters have been seen battling a huge house fire in the city on Tuesday as flames ripped through the home.

Emergency crews raced to the scene on Granton Mains Brae in the capital on Tuesday afternoon (July 12) as the fire tore through the building.

With the alarm first raised shortly after 3pm, dramatic footage taken from the scene has shown heavy smoke and flames escaping both the ground and first floor of the home.

Although not appearing to have spread to the neighbouring properties, many residents could be seen standing out on the street as the emergency services worked to get the fire under control.

It is currently unclear if there have been any injuries as a result of the blaze, with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirming they are still in attendance.
