Arriving at the High Street just after midnight, the crew were responding to a fire alarm that had been sounded inside John Knox House and the Scottish Storytelling Centre.
With firefighters entering the building to check it over, the engine had been parked just up the street in front of some roadworks.
Despite working to help the situation, the team were seen on video as they were screamed at from an angry neighbour who appeared to be infuriated by the noise.
Working at the scene for around 25 minutes, an eyewitness told Edinburgh Live the man had "periodically" shouted abuse at the crew.

Appearing to be a false alarm, the crew left the scene at around 12.30am.
Edinburgh Live contacted the SFRS for comment.
