Edinburgh City Council are expected to make a decision on opening the Meadows based Circus Hub for this year's Fringe.
The venue, which has been part of the festival for the past few years, would accommodate seating for 1,000 people.
If the council let the plans go ahead, Underbelly would begin construction of the venue on July 19 and it will be open to the public throughout the Fringe festival.

The Circus Hub has been a feature of the Fringe since 2015 and the big top allows for types of performance that may not be possible in other venues in the city - including circus acts.
The pop up would be split into two different venues with a combined seating capacity of 1000 people. As well as offering food traders, a bar and toilets for the public.
The proposed site will feature The Lafayette and The Beauty, named after the illusionist The Great Lafayette, who died in Edinburgh in 1911.
The Lafayette is a traditional circus big top, designed to accommodate classic circus events and will host 550 people.
The Beauty is a Spiegeltent which will accommodate 450 people and will be designed to showcase a series of cabaret style events.
While the public would have to purchase tickets for events to enter any of the venues, the pop up itself-including the bar- will be open to the public for free.
According to the application to the council, the venue would be designed to be accessible. With each of the venues including wheelchair access.
Pictures of the planned site have been published on Edinburgh Council website, who have recently validated the application to renew the pop up.
However, the council are yet to make their final decision on the site, expected to make their decision by July 12. Residents who wish to make comments about the proposed site will have to do so by May 4.
Local living around the meadows are due to be notified of the planned construction work via leaflet campaign.
The Underbelly was established in 2000 and is responsible for managing multiple venues across Edinburgh during the yearly festival, including ones at George Square, Bristo Square and the Cowgate.
As well as running venues for The Edinburgh Fringe, Underbelly are also responsible for running venues during the city’s Christmas festivals and The Hogmanay Street Party.
The new venue will be open from August 5 to August 27.
