An Edinburgh family have been left devastated after two mountain bikes were stolen from their secluded back garden.
Mum Linda Thomson says that both her son Glen Thomson, 13, and her partner Craig Stewart, had their bikes stolen in the early hours of Thursday, June 15.
Glen’s small adult blue Carrera and Craig’s Ridgeback were both taken from their back garden in South Gyle by the brazen bike thieves.

Linda says that her son loved his bike and that it was his most prized possession before it was taken.
She said that they would normally have locked the bikes in the garden shed but that she was using the space to store charity wreaths that she makes to raise money for Edinburgh’s Dog and Cat Home.
But despite this, she added that her garden is "totally secure’"and that any view of the bikes would have been hidden by their tall fence.
“What is really annoying is that they are usually locked in my shed but the baubles and wreaths are all in there,” Linda said.
“My garden is totally secure and you can't see in it so there is no way they could have seen the bikes there. We think they have gone into one of the blocks of flats that shows the view of the gardens.
“Glen’s bike is a small adult blue Carrera but there is also a story about that too.
“We absolutely struggled to get him one during covid because you couldn’t source bikes but we eventually got one from Hallfords. The day I was due to pick it up, a guy walked into the store and casually stole it.
“Hallfords were as raging as us. It is such a shame as Glen is so good on his bike and it is his favourite possession. We did a commercial together for Edinburgh Council’s cycle pathways last August so it is quite upsetting that this has happened.
“Both Craig and Glen love their bikes. We got Glen his bike for his 11th birthday and it must have cost around £600.”
Linda added that a neighbour’s Ring doorbell had captured youths on bikes acting suspiciously in front of her home shortly before 2am.
Police Scotland have said that enquiries are at an early stage. If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of the bikes, please contact us here.
